Trans (Transexuales, Travestis y Transgeneros) activists were at the forefront of the year’s actions in the Dominican Republic. A rally was organised in the city of Santo Domingo, to protest human rights violations in the country, and to spotlight the fact that trans people comprise a significant segment of them. As in various other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean this year, activists drew particular attention to the question of impunity for the perpetrators of hate crimes.
