				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Nicaragua hosted one more time celebrations for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. Many activities were organized by the civil society, LGBT and human rights activists.</strong></p>
<p>The National LGBT Committee, which brings together 23 LGBT groups from around the country and individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities, once more brought together everyone in celebration of May 17. In Managua, CONISIDA and organizations working on HIV prevention and care, marched on the day of Solidarity on Friday May 15 in Chichigalpa, Chinandega and a walk against lesbo- homo-bi-transphobia.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>To mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia the Federation of Gay Games and LGBT sports group Didesex Desportes have joined together to promote a series of events across Mexico and Central America. </strong></p>
<p>As part of the event games will be held in Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua to promote IDAHOT 2015. As well as raising awareness for the day, organisers hope that the events will help combat stereotypes about LGBTI people held in these countries.</p>
<p>As well as these events Didesex will hope to further combat stereotypes by sharing profiles of individuals involved through their social media in the week following May 17th. Messages and images will also be shared (in Spanish) using the hashtag #deportevshomofobia.</p>

<p>Highlights included: On May 16, activists held a parade in solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS. The activity was organized by the Organization CONISIDA Nicaragua.</p>
<p>On May 17, a major demonstration took place in Managua against Homolesbobitrans-phobia. Like many others this year, this activity was organized by the Mesa Nacional LGBTI Nicaragua, an umbrella organization which unites 19 LGBTI organizations and groups across the country. Actions took place under the framework of the Campaign April 26 &#8211; May 17 &#8211; June 28, 2014, under the slogan &#8220;Demanding Rights, Building Citizenship&#8221;.</p>

<p>Concluding with the activities carried out on May 23, the First Municipal Discussion around LGBTI rights took place: &#8220;Demanding Rights, Building Citizenship&#8221;. This first discussion with the municipal, community and regional Movement of Sexual Diversities was organized by the Asociación Movimiento de la Diversidad Sexual Costeña AMODISEC and Asociación de la Diversidad Sexual de Siuna ADISEX, both organizations located in the Autonomous Region of Nicaragua North Atlantic.</p>

<p>Varias organizaciones aglutinadas en la comunidad lésbica-gay de Honduras desfilaron este viernes para protestar y que frene la discriminación en el país. Según varios de sus miembros, en muchas ocasiones son marginados debido a su comportamiento homosexual, por lo que piden a las autoridades poner un alto ante este atropello.</p>

Highlights included hundreds of Nicaraguans marching against homophobia and transphobia in Managua, with rainbow flags and shouting slogans demanding an end to discrimination.</h4>

<h4><strong>May 17 March in Managua</strong></h4>
<p>LGBTI groups in Nicaragua came together for a march through the main streets of the capital city on May 17th, united under the theme ‘For Respect and Dignified Treatment of LGBTI People in Nicaragua’ (which is also the theme for the campaign April 26 – May 17 – June 28). This activity was organized by the National Bureau LGBTI of Nicaragua &amp; the group ANDISEX, with the participation of organizations, groups and LGBTI activists and their allies and partners in women’s movements and other organizations of society.</p>
<p>The march started at 15:30, at Rotunda Cristo Rey, and moved westward over the square of resistance, through the National Police Headquarters, and ended in the vicinity of the Rotunda of Metrocenter.</p>

<p>Activities included two press conferences; a march against harassment and hate crimes; a meeting with officials from the Department of Chinandega to present the Minimum Agenda of Human Rights, Sexual Diversity in Nicaragua; a meeting with officers of the municipality of Centro La Paz to discuss harassment and hate crimes in the municipality; the convening of the first national meeting on an analysis of sexual diversity in Nicaragua; a video forum on LGBT discrimination; the setting up of an information table on human rights; the collection of signatures to present to the National Assembly demanding a declaration of a National Day to Combat Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity; and the holding of the first National Forum on Harassment and Hate Crimes.</p>
