Romanian LGBT organizations commemorated the International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia 2014, with a video release, a poster campaign and a public meeting on the social rights of LGBTI people

Activists invited community members to a venue where they filmed verbal messages which were cut into a support video for the LGBT community. They also took photos with written messages on posters. All of this served for the main purpose of raising public awareness around LGBT rights through social media, and also getting people together to get to know each other, and to build stronger communities.

You can watch the video activists created (with English subtitles) here:

Women’s organisation around the IDAHOT 2014

The event above was followed by an exclusive celebration night for women in the LGBTQIA community. These events took place with the support of the groups Tomboy, Accept and Transform NGOs.

Workshop by Prahova LGBT Initiative

Prahova LGBT Initiative also organized a workshop for its members, with the support of its young community members. The workshop aimed to produce photographs and video messages in Romanian. The organization underlined the importance of May 17 by stating, “LGBT people do not have access to jobs, homes, justice, health care in this country.” The actions took place in Ploiesti, Romania.
