May 17 to be marked with a groundbreaking documentary in Albania

IDAHOT will be celebrated with various activities and events in Albania, consisting of the Tirana Gay Ride, the screening of a pioneering documentary and a award-winning ceremony.

Alliance Against Discrimination of LGBT and ProLGBT will organise the Third Tirana Gay Ride Against Homophobia at the “Boulevard of Martyrs” on May 17th. This event will start at 11:00 at the “Mother Teresa” square. The ride will continue all the way to the boulevard and will end at the starting point of “Mother Teresa” Square.

May 17 will also be marked by a documentary produced by these two LGBT organisations. The Film “SkaNdal” is the first ever documentary about the LGBT movement in Albania. LGBT community members will appear for the first time with their faces and names and they will share their personal stories and how the LGBT movement has changed their lives.
Former US Ambassador Mr. Withers will also appear in this documentary in an exclusive interview where he highlights his personal engagement in the movement during the time he was living and working in Albania.

The award ceremony and the documentary screening will take place at the Imperial Cinema “Agimi” on May 17, at 19:00.
