World of Sports speaks up for IDAHOT

This year, the world of sports gets particularly vocal to mark the IDAHOT

FC Barcelona will no doubt rank top of the list of the most influential voices this year as the club signed a special Charter to fight homophobia and released a special video message that reached thousands of fans

The Australian Football league also came out strongly against homophobia

Club captains and Brownlow medallists, Collingwood’s senior coach and the bosses of the AFL Players Association and AFL, have united in a campaign to mark the international day against homophobia and transphobia

Still in Football, the Football Against Racism in Europe has teamed up with the Football vs Homophobia project to support actions by local clubs for IDAHOT

Rugby too is raising its voice.

In what is believed to be a world first, international rugby stars from three countries are joining together in publicly condemning homophobia in sport. English star James Haskell and Welsh star Alex Cuthbert as well as Australian Rugby Legend John Eales have all backed a statement specifically calling for an end to homophobic language, the most common form of discrimination and will be promoting anti-homophobia messages through social media this Sunday, 17 May
